The former president of Ukraine and leader of the ‘European Solidarity’ party Petro Poroshenko made a statement regarding yesterday’s Biden-Putin virtual meeting.

‘I call on the Ukrainian authorities to stop ignoring the threat… because it seems that the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is of more interest to our partners than to the current government’, Poroshenko said.

He added it is ‘extremely important that President Biden spoke in coordination and a united front with NATO allies’.

The former president welcomed ‘the unwavering support of the American leadership of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the right of the Ukrainian people to choose their own geopolitical course’.

‘We fully support the approach of the so-called two Ds – a call for immediate de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. We believe that this approach should be strengthened by the third D – the de-occupation of the Ukrainian territories of Donbas and Crimea’, Poroshenko claimed.

Petro Poroshenko also made a comment regarding Nord Stream-2 saying ‘our partners should not be subjected to Russian blackmail in the case of Nord Stream 2. This adventurous project is a part of the Kremlin’s aggressive plan against Ukraine and the whole of Europe, and therefore it should be blocked’.

Petro Poroshenko appreciated the signals of American partners about their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and called on Zelensky ‘to end the erroneous policy of ‘partner independence’, to restore the country’s international subjectivity, to renounce the temptation of separate talks with Putin that lead to capitulation, and join the diplomatic efforts of the partners’.

Earlier, the US Embassy to Ukraine stated they are not currently considering evacuation of the US citizens in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine.
